Saving the Survivors

Hi Everyone,

In 2015 I watched with the rest of the world the story of Hope, a White Rhino who was a victim of poaching.  The Saving the Survivor charity worked endlessly to save Hope.  It was Hope’s story and my own experiences working with Rhino when I was a safari guide in Zimbabwe that sparked the idea for this story.  If you would like to know more about what Saving the Survivors do or help in any way their details are below.

Best wishes

Tracy

Saving The Survivors

A registered charity in South Africa, Namibia, The UK and The USA. Saving the Survivors was founded by Dr. Johan Marais in 2012 to treat and care for Rhino who had fallen victim to poaching or traumatic incidents. This included Rhino that have been wounded, Rhino where the horn has been hacked off, as well as victims of snaring and other trauma. Whilst we are best known for our emergency work with Rhino, we also treat any other endangered species in need.

The Saving the Survivors team regularly works with Lion, Leopard, African Wild Dog, Sable and Roan antelope and Elephant, to name but a few. In addition to this, we manage and deliver many proactive initiatives such as community and breeding programs, human-wildlife conflict mitigation and wildlife translocation. Most of these animals are being treated in the bush in their natural environment, as transporting them is not always possible, and it is often extremely stressful.

They work throughout Southern Africa, but we also aid endangered species worldwide. If you would like to donate or find out more about  to their projects, please visit their website and click the donate button.
